A three-room, but a very small apartment was acquired through youth credit. All room in this apartment little, planning decision is traditionally uncomfortable – a long narrow corridor, at the end of the corridor there is a bathroom and a rest room, a small room to the left and to the right. It seems that an architect tried to keep to the norms of residential area per person - 13,65 m2. But the architect might forgot, that 13,65 m2 is norm of residential place, not general. And the general area of an apartment for a family of five persons can be easily calculated: 13,65 х 5 + 20 m2 for a family = 88,25 m2.
Thus, our customers are missing at least 25 m2.
But one should live, better with some comfort. That is why our customers decided to invite a designer. The task was formulated rather laconic - to get a feeling of comfort, heat and mildness with minimal expenses.
The son will now have a separate room,
though the smallest one - it will be the room of his own.
Boy's nursery. Clouds on the ceiling,
stars that illuminate in darkness -
what else can a 10-years old boy to feel happy?
An aquarium with favourite fishes
occupied an honoured place on the shelves.
There are three children in the family, so they decided to provide one rooms (the smallest) to the son, and to settle girls together. No special innovations were developed for the nurseries, but there are still some sparkles there. We suggested to arrange bed curtains for two little princesses, and to draw two suns on ceiling - a personal sun for each girl. A 10-years-old boy was very happy to have clouds on the ceiling and stars that illuminate in darkness. An aquarium with favourite fishes should occupy an honoured place on the shelves. Waves drawn on the walls, colour of sand, iridescent textile - all that brings happiness to a young traveller who likes nature and sea. The parents asked to realize all these decorations in the cheapest ways, because children grow up quickly and the interior might be change soon.
Each daughter will have her own sun.
Two little princesses will sleep
under rainbow bed curtains.
third room required much more strength and fantasy, as we had to combine several functions there. First of all, it is a bedroom for parents. Than, it is a living room where the whole family will gather each evening. It is not to forget that the family is very hospitable, and guests often visit this home. Guests are usually numerous: two grandmas, two grandpas, two godfathers of each child, each godfather has a wife and children. You see, the family is really "small"...
"The most important is to feel warm, soft and comfortable", - the mistress of the house said. - "And I am dreaming of a fire-place… It's a pity, that the room is so small…"
Based on this, we decided not to overload the room with furniture and tried to extend space and to provide maximum of seating places. For clear reasons the customers refused a bed and preferred a transforming corner sofa. Designer suggested that the sofa should face the entrance door, as the sight from the window is not very attractive. But there is a chance to change the opposite wall of room into a blooming garden, which is much more pleasant. The arched openings were made in a false wall of gypsum cardboard. The niches were decorated with landscape prints. Under the central opening we made rounded steps, where one may seat as well. Two low bureaus can be used as benches, especially for children. The bureaus are illuminated from beneath and therefore they look more airy and easy. To the right of the door there is a large mirror – from the floor up to the ceiling. The prints are reflecting in it, and it seems that a magic garden goes on somewhere outside the room. Instead of the door glass there are mirrors as well.
The ceiling is low, but we have assembled a special construction of gypsum board along the perimeter of the room. It should be illuminated from the inside and the ceiling could seem higher. This construction was planned to be decorated with the same wallpaper that was used for panels. Thus, two horizontal lines could somewhat widen the room.
Of course, it's impossible to arrange a real fire-place on the fourth floor. But there will be no problem with an electric one. It can become a perfect supplement to our warm and comfortable interior. DVD-player will occupy a mantelpiece, on the wall above it there will be a LCD TV set.

In this apartment the kitchen in this so narrow, that there was no place for a window - there is only a balcony. Besides, communications are designed very uncomfortably, therefore we had to be hide them into a special gypsum box. We have offered 2 variants of functional division. The first variant suggested to arrange a dining area near the door, to continue a working surface with a folding table that would cross the balcony door. But our clients have chosen a more traditional variant with the working surface along one wall and a dinner table near the opposite one. And idea with bright photo wallpaper pleased them very much. Besides, we drafted good illumination which is very important for the hostess who spends a lot of time in the kitchen. Therefore lamps should appear both above the dinner table and directly above the working surface.

The clients were a little bit restricted in their funds. Therefore, we suggested them a so called economy project that included the variants of functional division, colour decisions, choice of principal material, not detailed sketches and basic technical documents. We performed no designer's supervision after the project realization. No wonder, that the project has undergone substantial changes during the realization.
